Why Should I Learn a Foreign Language?

We’re not that far from the Universal Translator , right?

Welcome to SpeakLike, the first instant messaging service for accurate, real-time translation chat across different languages. You type text in your language, and others see it in theirs.

Skype has their version too
Universal Chat Language Translator and Speaker for Skype

It goes without saying that the boys and girls at Carnegie Mellon have already developed their version and gotten it to market: Franklin 12-Language Speaking Global Translator.

I recently decided to broaden my horizons and decided to learn a new language; the question is what should I learn? I’ve asked a few friends and they were useless! Everyone was telling me something different, in the end I have decided to attempt to learn Spanish. I studied Spanish a bit during my time at school but have forgotten most of it! Does anybody know of any reasonably priced but high-quality language learning software?

Hmmm, I'm tempted to guess that this comment is a not-so-covert advertisement for Rosetta Stone software. Especially the suspiciously general "Does anybody know..." I mean, duh, do you not know whose blog you're commenting on?

I do not endorse Rosetta Stone, nor anyone else's language learning software.

Wanna learn Spanish? Get a Puerto Rican girlfriend for the summer. Mui Caliente!
